Insecure Writer Me

Writers, consider this today, and then go write something good. I'm officially out of blogginess this first day of May, so this is short and to the point. It's not terribly creative, and I feel my insecurities popping out all over as I write it.

“Don't be afraid to write. I think a lot of writers of all ages have a fear that they aren't any good at writing. That fear is normal. I feel it. Most writers who care about what they are writing feel it. When you feel like you're not good enough, write anyway. It's just a pesky bug that's whispering lies. The best way to swat the bug is with your pen.”  Anonymous

  2. That quote is very accurate. I'm not feeling really creative right now either.

    1. Still we're doing it. What is it that keeps us at the job? Love of the work? I think so.

    1. I know. Sometimes you just have to say, I'm taking some time off.

  4. Good advice. My problem is all my pesky, whispering, lying bugs work for agencies. Their discouragement is somewhat hard to ignore, but I do my best. *wink*

    1. At least you haven't stopped and said you can't go on. That's a huge positive.

  5. I think writing isn't necessarily about writing something good, or being "terribly creative," but just doing it! Thanks for sharing :)

  7. Here from Alex's blog.

So true and Sage advice. I'm constantly battling insecurities about my writing. Very seldom do I give myself accolades. Guess it's important to do so. It's all about finding a balance.

BTW, I like your blog and am now a follower. Looking forward to reading more of your post.

  9. Excellent quote! And I think a break it's a great idea. It's sunny outside, you know. It's a pity all that springness goes to waste now. :)

  15. I can imagine you are exhausted after all the A-Z posts and everything else you have going on.

You are a wonderful writer, but I think we all can relate to your words. Thanks for the reminder to slay those thoughts with a pen (or keyboard). :)

    Hope you can relax!

    1. Thanks, Jess. I'll take some time off and then come back for some riddles. I don't want to lose my skill as guessing. :-)

  16. I'm excited about my new project, so I'm going to write today.

It's hard doing IWSG right after A to Z, but your short post packs a punch.

  18. If I gave into fear of not being great at the things I try, I'd never get to try anything. I say give it a go and have fun - I still remember all the kids cheering me on at our sports day when I'd still be running around the oval ten minutes after everyone else had crossed the finish line. Gotta take the applause where you can get it.
