Due to LIFE!!!!!
This will be my last post until after the first of the year. So I'd better make the Monday Miscellany good, hadn't I?

This is a SLIDE SHOW that's funny and informative for any of us who write books and who blog and tweet about that fact. It takes a minute, but the message is perfect. Most of you have this down pat, but some may not.

My book purchases for last week were: Lynn Kelly's Curse of the Double Digits and The Mistaken by Nancy S. Thompson. Now I can curl up under the tree and read, read, read. Did you buy books this December? Are there any you've fallen in love with? How about a gift suggestions while there's still time?

I'm always in a fuddle about GENRES and SUB-GENRES, but here's a great UNFUDDLING LIST that helped me out. Thanks to Al Diaz who posted this.

And just to make this truly Miscellaneous, here are some random thoughts on this season.
- It should have snow because Hallmark says so.
- We need a remake of "It's A Wonderful Life."
- Gifts: I'm giving money to charities this year and hugging each member of my family a little longer.
- I'm giving up on hoping for world peace. Instead, I'm asking for increased understanding and tolerance on a local level.
- Like Charles Dickens, "I will honour Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year."
I'm not going to make any more promises than that last one. It's a biggie and deserves my undivided attention throughout 2013.
Merry Christmas and Happy Hannaka, wonderful readers. See you all again 2013. Inshallah. :-)

We should have snow!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to the winners.
And you will really dig Nancy's book!
I agree on the snow, but just a little. I also love watching It's A Wonderful Life, even when it isn't Christmas. Definitely going to check out your links posted here, thanks for sharing them. Also wanting to wish you a Happy and Safe Holiday!
ReplyDeleteGot to love unfuddling lists!! I'll take a peek. Have a wonderful holiday break, C.Lee. You deserve it.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad the links proved useful. I like your thoughts on this season as well, mostly three and four.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas to you too! :D
Life can be quite the buggery :-)
ReplyDeleteCongrats to the winners and may 2013 bring more holiday cheer on an everyday basis.
Enjoy your time away and "Let it be, Let it be!"
Lots of great stuff here! I'm with you on taking a break for life. My last post of the year will be Wednesday.
ReplyDeleteSo *Hallmark* is the one to contact for snow. Good thing to know. LOL (If you make it to my Wed. post, you'll understand why this matters to me. :P)
Best wishes for a happy holiday and prosperous new year. :)
It never snows here in TN, so I'm with you there!
ReplyDeleteI think the world could definitely use quite a bit more understanding...
I hope you have a wonderful Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanzaa/Holiday!
Yes, Nancy's book sounds really good. My first DEC book purchase was an anthology of essays by cutting edge scientists and neurobiologists.
ReplyDeleteHave a very Merry!!!
Aw, how cool that you bought Curse of the Double Digits! I hope you get a kick out of it! Thanks so much for the shout out! I'll have to get Nancy's book. Thanks for adding the link. I just bought the third book in the Mindjack trilogy by Susan Kaye Quinn.
ReplyDeleteLove that slideshow! Funny and gets the points across, loud and clear!
Hope you have a beautiful Christmas with your family, Lee, and a wonderful, prosperous New Year. Enjoy your time off!
Hoping you have a lovely Christmas.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the links! And enjoy the holidays!
ReplyDeleteI'd watch a remake of It's A Wonderful Life. Every time a bell rings, an angel gets its wings. The new generation needs to hear this!
ReplyDeleteI love what you're doing with charities and family members this Christmas. Now that is in the spirit of the holiday! :)
ReplyDeleteThat slide show is dead on! And here's to keeping Christmas in hearts every single day!!! Love that!
ReplyDeleteMeilleurs voeux-
Samantha
p.s. I have to Google Inshallah now-- God Willing, got it!
I do want a bit of snow for Christmas. Just enough to make the trees look pretty, but the roads clear and safe.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful Christmas, Lee!
That slideshow is awesome.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to the winners.
I can't wait to curl up with some books during winter break.
Happy holidays!
We have snow at the moment, but it's getting really mild and we're worried about it. I've only ever had 1 green Christmas here - and I hope it's the only one I ever experience!! Enjoy the holiday season :)
ReplyDeleteIncreased understanding, less morons and no crazies is more like it.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas, Lee! See you next year! :-)
ReplyDeleteHappy holidays, Lee. I hope you enjoy them. See you in 2013!

Merry Christmas, Lee!
ReplyDeleteThe slide show was funny.
I just finished Libby Heily's Tough Girl, which is phenomenal and have started Michael Offut's Slipstream, which is also keeping me up too late. So many great reads out there. We hang with a talented crowd.
Congrats to the winners!!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas to you too!
Merry Christmas to you Lee! Enjoy your time away! See you next year. :)

ReplyDeleteI am going to check out that sub-genre list, 'cause I too have trouble defining my stories' genres sometimes.
