A to Z Blogging Challenge-O

O is for OPENING. The other day I OPENED my computer and guess what? No data. Nope. Not one single file, just lots of empty folders. After reviving I did what any semi-literate computer user would do. I pounded my fists on the desk and stomped around the room. Then I called the HelpDesk. While I'm still at the "What in the #@!!$% happened" stage of my computer meltdown, I'm now semi-calm and taking weak tea.

I'm not alone in being a bit at a loss when technology plays tricks, so that's comforting. It's also comforting to know that I still have a sense of humor. Join me in a good laugh, please. It takes a few minutes, but you'll leave refreshed. I keep viewing this to take my mind off my own situation. Do you have any computer horror stories to share? Send 'em over.

  1. I had a computer virus sooooo bad that I had to buy a new computer. The good news is, I didn't lose much because my husband ingrained in me long ago to Back Up Back Up Back Up! Especially when we are talking about our writing. Never sit down to a writing session without hitting the save key a million times and then, when the session is over, back it up onto a thumb drive.

  3. Oh no! I'd be frantic. I once had a laptop that had a complete meltdown and I lost just about everything I had on it. Never again, I tell myself...

I've seen that video before and I LOVE it!

  4. That would be horrifying. I'd have a class 5 meltdown! I can't watch the video b/c I'm at work and they block all streaming, but I'll try to come back when I get home.

  5. I'm sorry! I'm good with computers so I've never lost a file. Unless a program crashes while I'm working in it and I lose the last ten minutes worth of work.

  8. Oh.
    My.
Gosh....I have a few horror stories, lol. Probably the worst was losing all data after I rebooted my computer. I'd thought the data would transfer-it didn't! Think I considered something stronger than tea !!

Hope this is the last time this happens to you....I'd say once is enough. All best!

  9. UGH! Hope everything turns out well. I hate when that type of thing happens. My husband is an IT guy and it's still super frustrating.

  10. UGH, my heart was beating fast for you! My biggest horror story regarding a computer is I teach children with special needs and I was writing a report and and IEP and I was almost done when the electricity flicked off and when it came on after that split second--it was gone!
I was NOT a happy camper so I just walked away and started again!glad it turned out okay!

  11. I would cry. Hope everything will soon be back to normal. My laptop crashed a couple weeks ago. Fortunately, everything that was on it is on my desktop. I also have a small hard drive that backs up my work each day. Sending good vibes.

  13. Not nice! My last laptop died on me. Luckily it gave a few warning signs of impending decrepitude first, so I was able to back up most of my files. Hope everything works out OK for you.

    That video is priceless!

  14. I am totally sick just thinking about your dilemma. I'm a crazy backup nut. I learned that from my lighting designer past in the early days of computer driven lighting boards. I lost the cues for an entire show once. I learned my backup lesson the hard way. I hope your computer wakes up.

Please say something to me, anything. Well, not anything, but a kind word will do.
